SPDJ Studio 54 Edition is a DJ/mixing program available for Windows PCs.

Being a DJ isn't easy. One of the biggest barriers to entry is cost. If you want to try it out without spending several grand, a free program like SPDJ Studio 54 Edition is fantastic. It's easy to use and it won't cost you a dime, making it a perfect entry point into a hobby that is known for taking the money of enthusiasts and leaving little behind but broken dreams.

Free doesn't necessarily mean good, though. There are a host of problems that make this tool more of a stepping stone than anything else. The big issue, of course, is that it's pretty limited in what you can do. Your mixing options are limited, which is probably for the best - after all, you can only mix two tracks with this program. Added to that fact is the design - it's old, it's outdated, and all of the space is dedicated to things that just don't matter much. This is the My First DJ toy of mixing programs.

Sometimes, you get what you pay for. There's nothing wrong with SPDJ Studio 54 Edition, but there's nothing great about it, either. It's a good toy for those who want to try out DJing, and possibly even a decent stepping stone along the way to better programs. It is not, however, a program that you can use for very long. You'll either get bored with DJing, or you will get to the point where you realize you will need something better. For the price, though, it's worth a download.
